EXPLORING DANISH HISTORY IN KØGE: Denmark Beyond Copenhagen

In this video, we take an exciting day trip from Copenhagen to the seaside town of Køge, Denmark. It’s our first video exploring Denmark beyond Copenhagen and we get to find out more about Danish history in this well-preserved town.

We take the train from Copenhagen and immediately notice Skt Nicolai Church, one of the oldest buildings in Køge dating back to 1250. Then we move on to Gamle Hus, the oldest residential home in Denmark. Next, we walk to Køge Torv, the largest market square outside of Copenhagen. There we explore the history of Denmark’s most famous witch trial, the Køge Huskors.

Then we check out some cool attractions in Køge, Denmark: the Køge Museum of Danish history, the KØS Museum of Public Art, and Køge mini by. We learn about the history of Denmark and how Koge has been at the center of much of it. Inside the Køge Museum, we find out more about the Dannebroge, a ship that exploded during one of the many Danish Swedish Wars.

We walk to Koge bay and recap more Danish history as we discuss the importance of the landscape on the growth of the city. The video ends along Koge harbor as we visit Braunstein Brewery.
