Star Trail | National Gallery

Stars illuminate the National Gallery from beginning to end. You can find them painted in the sky, where you’d expect them to be, but they are also hidden in less obvious places. Follow our Star Trail video series and discover stars in paintings throughout the National Gallery.

The Star Trail series counts down to Christmas and explores the ways stars have been painted across art history, connections between astronomy and art, star myths, and the guiding star at the heart of the story of Christmas.
