28 Years Of Initial D. These Are My Top 5 Cars From The Entire Series.

Initial D first aired on April 18, 1998. Twenty eight years later, it's still the reason a generation of us care about AE86s, S2000s, Civics, and every other weapon that came off those mountains. These are my top five cars from the entire series, ranked on how they looked, what they represented, and how hard they still hit today.

Sakamoto's Suzuki Cappuccino. The downhill specialist built on the theory that a lighter car could beat the AE86 at its own game. Beautiful in concept, beautiful in execution.
The Todo School EK9 Civic. Spoon Sports yellow, the purest expression of what a Honda Type R is supposed to be.
God Hand Toshiya Joshima's Honda S2000. Mugen parts, Myu Myu Papa Factory pieces, JS Racing hardware, all dressed in that deep blue. Half the reason I've owned two S2000s myself.
Takumi Fujiwara's AE86 Trueno in late Project D spec. Carbon hood, carbon headlight eyelid covers, Group A 4AG. The cohesive, menacing final form of the most famous car in anime.
Wataru Akiyama's Toyota Corolla Levin GT-APEX. Turbocharged, slammed, N2 wing, Seven Star Leaf livery. The Levin face over the Trueno face is a hill I will die on.
