Have you got a problem with barking dogs next door? You tried the police and they didn't help (they seldom do)? Did you called animal control and they don't give a crap (they usually don't)? It happens in so many parts of the US and the world. It happens here in Sugar Land, Texas and the local government here is now moving to ease the law against noisy dogs (can you believe that? the prosecutor admitted it to me). My opinion: someone on Sugar Land city council must have a noisy dog. Also my opinion: government is always trying to find ways to do less work. Most people don't trust politics and government, and I'm one of them. In recent times, government (large and small) has truly not earned the trust of the people (no doubt). Anyway, if you get no help and local government is useless to you, even though you pay your taxes, then you're on your own. Some people consider using high frequency sound to irritate or scare off the neighbor dog. There are commercial high frequency sound devices available that get mixed reviews, probably because they aren't powerful enough (just a guess). But, it's a known fact that dogs hear high frequencies. And, it seems logical that loud sounds would irritate a dog a possibly cause him to move away. In this tutorial are just some basic pieces of information about piezoelectric tweeters (high frequency speakers). There are a few good ideas in this video, but who knows if this will work. Maybe it'll work for some dogs, not for others. Some people will try anything, though, if they think it will help shut up a noisy dog from hell. Noisy dogs are truly a nightmare and that's just "noise pollution". If you're a tech-nerd, then you could make your own devices to try to shut up the noisy dog next door. Be careful, as you will possibly find that the owner of the barking dog may become hostile towards you should he find that you're trying to disturb his little love muffin with noise, although he thinks he has the right to let his dog disturb you without question. Also, the really screwed up part of all this is that local animal control (and police) will probably be hostile toward you if they find that you are trying to disturb a neighbor dog with high frequencies, even though that dog may be from hell. The local government will probably protect the "citizen" with the noisy dog and will probably hassle the person (non-citizen?) who is trying to restore peace and preserve his own sanity. This is a disturbing observation, but it's all too true.

If you don't like what we're saying here, then you probably have a noisy dog and you think that you have the right to "noise pollute" the neighborhood as much as you like. But, what's really happening is that you are making enemies. If you have a noisy dog, then you are a nuisance. If you do not care about your neighbors, then you may be a bit of a sociopath. (I just received an angry message this January day from someone who read this text and they said: "ridiculous, if you irritate animals then you are a sociopath". ++ This message is hilarious, and it proves that some people don't give a thought to their neighbors, only to their animals. Neighbors have feelings too, or not? But, it's truly obvious that some people don't care about neighbors. So, golden rule: irritate others only as much as you would have them irritate unto you.)

I urge people to: Let their neighbor know if their dog is obnoxious. Find ways to make that obnoxious neighbor uncomfortable. They deserve it. Send the karma back in their direction. If your neighbor cared about you, he'd work with his precious little dog to be a good citizen. If the dog owner fails to care, why should you? The police will not help. The city will not help. Make it happen.
