Les Misérables filming preparations BIG ELEPHANT in Greenwich, London 2012

Les Misérables musical film 2012. Behind the scenes preparing the film set in Greenwich, London making it look like Paris. The big elephant you see on set is the "Elephant of the Bastillei". It was a 24 meters (78 ft) monument in Paris around 1830.
The replica on set is about 7 meters in height. In the novel Les Misérables by the French author Victor Hugo the elephant is used by Gavroche as a shelter. In the musical it's the song "Look Down".

All of the stone buildings are existing and part of the Old Royal Naval College.

The odd looking camera is a scanner used for CGI. It's scanning the set.

The film stars are Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Eddie Redmayne, Amanda Seyfried, Sacha Baron Cohen, Helena Bonham Carter, Samantha Barks and Aaron Tveit.
The director is Tom Hooper.
The adaptation of the stage musical Les Misérables the movie is scheduled to be released on 14 December 2012.
