Hana Chang performs Ernst's Grand Caprice on Schubert's 'Der Erlkönig, D.328'

Hana Chang, 17, USA / Japan / Singapore, performing Ernst's Grand Caprice on Schubert's 'Der Erlkönig, D.328' at the Menuhin Competition #Richmond2021 Senior Finals.

Hana Chang began playing the violin at four years old and studies with Ida Kavafian at the Curtis Institute of Music. She has won top prizes at numerous competitions including the Stradivarius, Prague Spring, Louis Spohr, and Beethoven Hradec International Violin Competitions and has recently performed as a soloist with the Prague Radio Symphony, Czech Virtuosi, Utah Symphony and Hunan Symphony. Hana has also performed in the Smetana Litomyšl, St. Wenceslas, and Young Prague International Music Festivals in the Czech Republic and the Deer Valley Music Festival in Park City, Utah. She plays on an Amati violin, kindly on loan from the Rin Collection in Singapore.

Founded by Yehudi Menuhin in 1983, the Menuhin Competition is the world's leading international competition for young violinists. The Competition attracts hundreds of entries from countries across the globe, choosing only 44 of the world’s very best young violinists to participate. Held every two years in a different world city the Competition discovers, encourages and nurtures exceptionally talented young musicians from all corners of the world under the age of 22 years to develop into the next generation of great artists.
