The Help to Buy Equity Loan or Shared Ownership, which scheme is cheaper, and which has the better terms? In this video, I compare the schemes, looking at how they are similar and how they differ. I look at the costs involved, how they work, and consider which is cheaper and has the better terms. The Help to Buy scheme offers an equity loan of up to 20% (or 40% in London) to first-time buyer to buy new build homes. The Shared Ownership scheme helps people who previously owned homes, as well as first-time buyers, buy a share of their homes (resale properties, as well as new build homes).
