Two protective mother bears defend their young after a long, hard winter. When a senior mother bear is challenged by a newcomer, she has to stand her ground, defending her child - and her feeding spot! - all alone.

From documentary "Grizzly River", following the journeys of Alaskan Grizzlies as they migrate to the McNeil River Falls, a popular nursery spot for growing grizzly bears. Every summer, hundreds of the huge animals gather at the falls to feast on migrating salmon and find mates. And mother bears bring their youngsters to the frothy cataract for the most important summer school they’ll ever have: a crash course in survival that must last them the rest of their lives.
