Diving in Fuvahmulah Atoll

Manta Trust is working in Fuvahmulah Atoll in Maldives to study the population of oceanic Manta Rays which aggregate around this island for just a few weeks of the year. Fuvahmulah is a very special place, on any given dive it is possible to see oceanic manta rays, tiger sharks, thresher sharks, mola mola or hammerhead sharks. One of the most common issues for manta rays in the Maldives are Sri Lankan fisheries and the Manta Trust is investigating how much connectivity there is between the manta rays in Fuvahmulah and the ones turning up dead in the Sri Lankan fish markets.
