Seeing SpaceX Falcon 9’s and United Launch Alliance Atlas V’s launch from the Florida coast is nothing surprising to the average person. We launch rockets from Florida because it’s close to the equator? Right?

Vandenberg has launched rockets for the Air Force, the Department of Defense, civilian contractors, and even sent NASA’s InSight lander on its way to Mars. But do we really need both?
