Whaley Bridge: 55 more homes evacuated as race continues to repair dam before downpour | ITV News

Emergency services are evacuating more homes in Whaley Bridge as an operation to repair a damaged dam intensifies.

Police said on Saturday night a further 55 homes will be evacuated.

More rain is expected on Sunday, bringing further danger to the town which sits below the now vulnerable Toddbrook Reservoir dam. The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for the area.

Authorities have managed to drop the water level by around half a metre, and allowed some people to return home to gather essentials, but they said the situation remains "critical".
