More information on the fate of the Misha balloon:

"During the closing ceremony of the 1980 Olympic Games, Misha the bear appeared with a tear in his eye.[..] and at the end he was released and flew away from the stadium. He disappeared. A few hours later he landed on Vorobyovy Gory and later was shown at the Exhibition Centre."

"For some time [the balloon] was exhibited [...] but then it was stored in some warehouse where it's been half-eaten by rats. A bit later it was cut to pieces and disposed."
