Simple Tools and Systems to Capture Your Business Ideas Anywhere
As an entrepreneur my business ideas rarely happen at an opportune time. That's why I use some simple tools to capture the idea so that I don't lose it. Have a simple system for capturing those ideas and follow it!
The problem with ideas is that they usually never happen when you are sitting alone in your office. Ideas can happen anytime and anywhere...and in the middle of a conversation. Here's a good story.
I was in Nashville a while back and was having a serious conversation with a singer-songwriter friend of mine about something that had happened a couple of days prior.
I had done something and she had interpreted it, in my opinion, a little off. So we were talking about his and it was not heated but it was serious.
So I explained what I had been thinking at the time and I paused to hear her respond and I look over and she's singing into her phone and not paying any attention to what I was saying. I was a little put off and I said "I thought we were having a conversation here and you are not listening to me'
She went on to say that no, the conversation was important but that she had just had this inspiration for a song and she just had to capture it, so she was recording it on her smart phone. Once I put aside my initial reaction of thinking it was a little off-putting I realized that it was just awesome what she just did.
She's an artist and a creative type and so is anyone who is trying to an entrepreneur. Inspiration can strike you at any moment. It could be an inspiration for a new startup idea or an idea for a new business. So you better be ready to capture it.
Have a system in place to 'record' or capture these inspirational ideas the moment you come up with them so that you don't lose it. Here are some good idea capturing tools.
- Text Yourself the Idea
- Use Evernote
- Use Voicenote
Whatever system you use, just be sure an capture those thoughts as they occur. Yes, people may think you are a little bit odd but this is the price you pay for pure artistry whether in entertainment, arts or business.
