Homemade Chicken Big Mac

Chicken Big Mac? Yes, that's a thing (at the moment!) .... and it's getting mixed reviews. In this video I buy 2 McDonald's ones for some reason and then make my own from scratch to compare. The ingredients worked out about 70p cheaper to make my own but that's only as I had most of it around the house already like the spices. The big mac sauce we make from scratch too, it worked for me, but others thing the Big Mac should just be left to beef. See what you think and try the recipe if you like! The chicken patty that we made would work brilliantly for a McChicken sandwich clone.

Ingredients list:
For the chicken burgers (makes 2)
350g boneless and skinless diced chicken breast
Pepper to season
1 egg
150g cornflour, in a shallow bowl for dunking

For the batter
250ml water
120g plain flour
50g cornflour
1 egg
1tbsp Dijon mustard
1tsp garlic powder
1tsp onion powder

For the Big Mac Sauce
50g mayo
50g tomato ketchup
1tbsp onion, finely chopped
1 small gherkin, finely chopped
20g Dijon mustard
1tsp garlic powder
1tsp onion powder
1tsp paprika
1tsp vinegar

To serve
1 seeded burger bun, sliced. Plus one extra base.
Good handful of shredded lettuce
1 slice of American cheese
1tsp chopped onion
1tsp chopped gherkin
You’ll also need vegetable oil for frying
