New AI technology helping to detect common Parkinson's symptoms early

Currently, Parkinson's disease is diagnosed through an evaluation by a neurologist that can take up to 90 minutes. It can sometimes be many months – even years – before symptoms become obvious enough for someone to go to the doctor, and even longer to reach diagnosis.

The development and advancement of technology has led to two new AI-based screening tests, which are being developed at RMIT University, and are said to detect common Parkinson’s symptoms early in their development. The two tests include a handwriting test and a speech test.
