10 Tips for the SOLO Lifter (SQUATS, BENCH, SAFETY)
Be smart about training days - Have an awareness of when folks ARE and ARE NOT in the gym. Don’t hesitate to adjust your schedule so you aren’t fighting for equipment.

Bench - Develop a good relationship with a few gym rats. I’ve asked: “Can I get a quick spot” 100s of times and never had an issue.

Bench at Home - Learn to bench with the squat rack catch pins set at a safe height, EVEN if it means benching to ONLY 1-2 inches above the chest.

Squat - Practice safe progression. Leave a couple of reps in the tank on all-out sets. You never want to perform a “I might fail on this rep” REP.

Squat at Home - Set your catch pins an inch or two below your parallel mark. Find this spot by playing around and starting the catch ponds high during a warm-up.

Squats at Home - Learn to DUMP the bar. Know how to dump. Practice with an empty bar.

Phone. Stop looking at your phone for an hour. Focus on your training. Lifting alone can result in “dicking around” between sets. Resist the urge.

Phone at Home - Keep your phone within arms length, especially if you are consistently training with heavy weight. Bad things CAN happen.

Stay in your zone - You are there to lift, not socialize. Music in, world off.

SAFETY - Double check your plates and ALWAYS use clips.
