Interview with Heather Marquette on lessons emerging for TWP from SOCACE research

In this interview, Professor Heather Marquette tells us what lessons are emerging for 'Thinking and Working Politically' from research from the Serious Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Evidence Programme (SOCACE). She highlights:
1. SOC ACE research offers new insights on what it means to TWP. This includes thinking about political will as the sum of political want, can, and must, to identify more politically feasible strategies to tackle serious organised crime (SOC), illicit finance and corruption.
2. SOC ACE research recommends different ways to work on SOC, illicit finance and corruption that are better able to meet the needs that emerge when working in different contexts, on a range of topics, and with different communities. This includes being problem driven, rather than solutions-led, taking politics seriously to understand the realities on the ground, and developing better understanding of the enabling factors that may drive or hinder political will for sustainable change.
3. Thinking and working politically when it comes to SOC, illicit finance and corruption opens a space for identifying potential tensions and unintended consequences in order to better manage trade-offs and mitigate risks. This includes being able to adapt to realities on the ground and embrace compromise.
