Accelerator physicist Suzie Sheehy discusses her book "The Matter of Everything: Twelve Experiments that Changed Our World", a hopeful story of human ingenuity, creativity and unending curiosity, that introduces us to the people who, through a combination of genius, persistence and luck, staged these ground-breaking experiments that shaped the world as we know it.

From the physicists who soared in hot air balloons on the trail of new particles, to the serendipitous discovery of X-rays in a German lab; and from the race to split open the atomic nucleus to the quest to find the third generation of matter, Suzie Sheehy offers a reminder of the thrilling discoveries that have shaped our lives—often without us even knowing it. Dr. Suzie Sheehy is an accelerator physicist based at the Universities of Oxford and Melbourne. Her research addresses both curiosity-driven and applied areas and is currently focused on designing new particle accelerators for applications in medicine. She is an award-winning science communicator, presenter and advocate for women in science. Suzie has delivered professional lectures and keynote presentations, written and delivered live shows to tens of thousands of students, and is an expert TV presenter for the Discovery Channel. In 2018 she delivered her first TED talk as part of TEDx Sydney, which has received almost 2 million views, to date.
