Battlefield 5 Firestorm?

Stayed up way later than I should to play a few rounds of Firestorm. I really wanted to see what the wait was for and why DICE/Criterion/EA thought it would be a good idea to try a Battle Royale mode for Battlefield 5. Where to begin?

I'll try to avoid being overly negative/criticizing ( for now ) and just give some initial thoughts.

The looting and inventory are obvious issues that I'm sure plenty of you have either experienced or heard about. I have to wonder who was giving them feedback early on to get to this kind of state where you are basically given a point and click adventure game to manage and sort out your loot/inventory. This isn't the first BR game so it's odd that they would make that mistake.

I still say you should be able to at least change the optics/sights. Going back to BF1 style of weapon grading is disappointing.

Beginning and end are awkward. You can't skydive straight down so you have to do some circling to land where you want to and it looks and feels kind of silly considering the parachutes. The end of the round/match whatever you want to call Firestorm is meh. Like when people saw BF5 and said it looked "meh", the win feels underwhelming and maybe that is because it is Battlefield or maybe because it's BF5.

There are some recent quality of life improvements in the base BF5 game that are missing from the BR version of the game which has me concerned for a few reasons. Are they going to be the same game or are they going to be like BF1 and Incursions where they only share assets? ( although if that is the case why did they bother in the first place ). How will the BR version be updated from now on and will the updates be shared? Will they be done by the same teams? It's going to get weird and if they fall under the same umbrella then we are going to run into unnecessary delays from the console certification process for patches because they couldn't separate them ( BF5 base game vs BR version ).

To go along with that topic for those of you that played the most recent COD and COD BR. Did the COD BR mode feel like a COD game or did it look like something that just shared assets? My whole perspective on this subject is a bit skewed because I've played so much Battlefield and so many other stand-alone BRs so I'm curious of other players perspectives or opinions.

I'm going to guess because of when we were playing they just didn't have NA servers online because each round we played was with crazy high ping so it was matchmaking us or everyone in NA to far away places.

Part of me keeps going back to what I and quite a few others said some time ago. We'd love to see a Battle Royale game on the Frostbite engine but a BR tacked onto a Battlefield game? Why? Or more specifically why would you want to limit yourself in that way especially with the era BF5 is set in.

I think early on we'll be treating Firestorm as a place for shenanigans. A place where we can screw around and try to break the game as it appears that Criterion handles some things differently :)

I really hate those damn optical lens flares. To the person in charge of the Frostbite render engine or "art direction" at DICE. YOU ARE NO J.J. ABRAMS. Your game does not look better with them, they are distracting and eye cancer to gameplay that players will frequently experience ( keep it in single player only ).

Side note, if any of you font geeks find a better looking font for Firestorm related thumbnails please let me know.
