The first year I lived in Japan, I kept using my credit card from back home. Not only was this stupid because I had to keep sending money for payment (meaning: expensive rates!), I was also missing out on the benefits of having a credit card from a local company here. The first one that I got was a Rakuten Credit Card (and I'll later tell you why and exactly how to have one yourself).
