Powertrain: more electrification, more efficiency.
Six-cylinder in-line petrol and diesel engines in various output classes are the first engine variants for the new S-Class. A V8 engine with an integrated starter-generator (ISG) and 48-volt onboard electrical system will be available soon after. A plug-in hybrid with an all-electric range of around 100 kilometres will follow in 2021.

At the touch of a button, the new 3D driver display (EUR 1,148.401) provides real depth perception of the surroundings for the first time, thanks to eye-tracking.

The MBUX Interior Assist (EUR 626.401) recognizes numerous desired control inputs by means of cameras in the overhead control panel and learning algorithms.

Thanks to rear-axle steering (EUR 1,5083), the S-Class feels as maneuverable as a compact car around town.
The revolutionary headlamp technology DIGITAL LIGHT (EUR 2,192.403) enables completely new functions, e.g. the projection of guidelines or warning symbols onto the road surface.

With the latest generation we want to offer our customers innovation, safety, comfort and quality as never before,” says Ola Källenius, Chairman of Daimler AG and Mercedes-Benz AG. “With a Cd figure from 0.22*, the S-Class is one of the world’s most aerodynamic cars, and especially so in the luxury saloon segment. Although the frontal area (A) of the new S-Class has increased slightly to 2.5 sq. m., the drag coefficient has been reduced even further compared to the preceding model. The product of Cd and A is 0.56 sq. m., which is 200 sq. cm less than for the previous model after its last facelift.
