Simple Thali Recipe | Dal Tadka & Kurkuri Bhindi | Mr and Mrs Foodie Cafe
Welcome back to Mr and Mrs Foodie Cafe! Today, we’re sharing a delicious, homestyle simple thali that includes comforting Dal Tadka, crispy Kurkuri Bhindi, soft cooked rice, and a fresh salad — perfect for a satisfying everyday meal.

Ingredients:
For Dal Tadka:
Arhar Dal – ¼ cup
Moong Dal – ¼ cup
Chana Dal – ¼ cup
Turmeric Powder – ½ tsp
Salt – to taste
For Tadka:
Onion – 1 (chopped)
Garlic – 5-6 cloves (chopped)
Ginger – 1 inch (grated)
Green Chilli – 1 (chopped)
Cumin Seeds – 1 tsp
Dry Red Chilli – 1-2
Coriander Powder – 1 tsp
Cumin Powder – ½ tsp
Garam Masala – ½ tsp
Salt – to taste
Desi Ghee or Oil – 1-2 tbsp
Fresh Coriander Leaves – for garnish
For Kurkuri Bhindi (Bhindi Pakode):
Fresh Bhindi – 250g (thinly sliced)
Besan – 3-4 tbsp
Ajwain – ½ tsp
Jeera Powder – ½ tsp
Coriander Powder – 1 tsp
Red Chilli Powder – 1 tsp
Turmeric Powder – ½ tsp
Chaat Masala – 1 tsp
Salt – to taste
Oil – for deep frying
Other Items:
Cooked Rice
Fresh Salad (onion, cucumber, tomato, lemon)

Method:
1. Cook the Dal:
Wash and soak all three dals for 15-20 minutes.
Pressure cook with water, turmeric, and salt for 3-4 whistles until soft.
Mash lightly and keep aside.
2. Prepare the Tadka:
Heat desi ghee/oil in a pan.
Add cumin seeds and dry red chillies.
Add chopped garlic, ginger, green chilli, and onion. Sauté until golden brown.
Add coriander powder, cumin powder, salt, garam masala and stir well.
Pour this tadka over the cooked dal. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
3. Make Kurkuri Bhindi:
Wash and pat dry bhindi completely.
Slice thinly and mix with besan, ajwain, jeera powder, coriander powder, red chilli powder, turmeric, chaat masala, and salt.
Heat oil and deep fry in small batches until crispy.
Remove on paper towel.
4. Serve the Thali:
Plate the hot dal tadka with steamed rice, kurkuri bhindi, and a side of fresh salad.
