Emmy has been a client of mine for about 3 years. She is a miniature goldendoodle and is very well behaved. In this episode I give Emmy a scissor cut.
Shampoo and Conditioner: Best Shot UltraMax Pro
Clippers: Wahl KM Cordless
Scissors:
Straights: Kenchii Shinobi 8"
Curved: Kenchii Five Star 8"
Thinner: American Sharpening 65 tooth
Chunker: American Sharpening 24 tooth
Dryer: K9 III Velocity
Notes:
Bathing: I first shampoo, then rinse, then shampoo and condition, then final rinse.
Drying: The first time I go around the dog I am focusing on blowing out all the excess water in the coat. Then I go back and dry the dog in sections to ensure a thorough dry.
Brushing: I go over the dog with a couple of different slicker brushes. Slicker brushes make a scraping noise when used on tangled hair but when used correctly, as they are in the video, they do not scrape the dog's skin or harm the dog.
Clipping: I always clip in the direction of the dogs hair. I don't back brush. I use a #30 blade under my guard combs. My guard combs are mainly Wahl stainless steel combs, on the head I used an Oster stainless steel comb. (Body: 1" light blue 'E' Wahl clip comb, Head: 1.5" green Oster clip comb)
Scissoring: I use the Chris Christensen butter combs. I use a 'fluff combing' technique with no back brushing.
