8 - House On A Rock – The Drina River in Serbia is where one of the strangest and tiniest houses on our list sits a house perched on a rock. The house is over 40 years old and has weathered the Serbian elements to remain standing. Built in 1969, the house came to be when a group of boys were looking for a place to lay out in the sun and discovered the rock. Realizing it would be a great place to build the structure, the boys constructed the one bedroom house and it’s been there ever since.

7 – Bubble House – Selected to be an historic monument by the French Ministry of Culture even though its not even 40 years old. The house was designed by an organic architect named Antti Lovag and has sprawling views of the Mediterranean Sea. The convex windows and peculiar shape made it truly bizarre. The focal point of the house is the garden at the center that features a waterfall and stream. Exotic vegetation line the garden and the interior is fitted with built in furniture, shelving and cupboards.

6 - upside down house – This Upside Down House looks like a movie set – but it’s not! Located in Poland, the upside down house was created by Daniel Czapiewski – a Polish businessman. The house has become one of the largest tourist attractions in Poland, although tourists have complained of motion sickness and nausea upon entering. The interior of the house is fully furnished and decorated, with everything bolted to the ceiling to keep with its theme. There is a pretty profound message behind the house – Daniel was trying to make a statement about the state of the world, namely the Communist era. The house took longer to build because the workers kept getting disoriented by the upside down design.

5 - Boeing 727 Hotel – Though technically a hotel and not a house, it’s just too cool not to mention. The 1965 Boeing 727 frame used for this hotel was salvaged from San Jose and carefully brought to Costa Rica. The hotel consists of two bedrooms with their own private baths, a kitchenette, dining area, private entrance and ocean view terrace. It’s completed fitted with Costa Rican teak paneling and hand carved teak furniture. From the terrace, the only neighbors visible are the monkeys, toucans and sloths.

4 - Flintstones House – Well, this house may look familiar. TV personality Dick Clark had actually been the one to fight to have this home built. Located in Malibu California, the house is situated on 23 acres and needed to look like a rock formation to blend into the surroundings in order for Dick Clark to get permission to build on the wild site. The home is a one bedroom, two bath, with an interior covered in steel and wood. The huge glass windows offer 360 degree views of the surrounding Santa Monica Mountains. The house was recently sold by Clark’s widow for $1.78 million.

3 - Soccer Ball House – Not only is this soccer ball house located in Japan but it’s also apparently disaster proof. The house has 32 sides and is structurally designed to withstand earthquakes. This house is apparently a hot commodity and is popping up all over Japan, ranging in size from large all the way down to doghouses. The interior consists of one small room with a fireplace in the middle. The neat thing about this home is you can combine several units together to create a number of configurations.

2 - The Keret House – Not only is this structure a house, it’s also an art installation. Designed by the architect Jakub Szczesny in 2012, the Keret House measures just around 3 feet by 5 feet. It consists of two floors and has a kitchen one bedroom, a living area and bathroom. To get from the first floor to the second floor, the residents have to climb a ladder. To enter the house you’d need to use retractable stairs that turn into the living space when closed. Located in Warsaw, the Keret House was built between two buildings and the designer considers it a tribute to his family were killed during World War II.

Built by the late mayor of Suwon South Korea, Sim Jae-Duck the purpose was to bring awareness to clean and working sanitation. He was born in a bathroom and has made it his mission in life to be an advocate for the 2 billion people in this world living without toilets. The house is 4520 square feet of concrete, steel and glass and cost $1.1 million to build. The focal point of the house is an obvious one – it’s a glass walled bathroom in which the walls become opaque when a button is pushed.
