How We Built Our Navajo Hogan to Convert to a Tiny House

This video explains the process we took building a Navajo Hogan which uses the concept of an octagonal compression box roof which is used in building a Hogan that the Dine' Navajo people use for ceremonies. We built this Hogan to be used for living space tiny home and also future ceremonies such as a Kinaalda. Though our Hogan has some changes from the ancient hogan, ours is much like many of the hogans that are built in modern times. This video explains the process and concept of compression box roofs. Hogans have changed over the years...ancient hogans were usually made of logs and clay and the door faced the east. The door of our hogan is facing the east ...but as the video explains we had to change the build from logs to a modern stucture due to time and money constraints.
We are a family that is building off the grid on a budget building multiple tiny homes to get away to if we need to or to just enjoy each others company!
