Waves and Oscillations - Forced Harmonic Oscillations : EOM and its Solution - 2

In first lecture on forced harmonic oscillations the equation of motion for the oscillator had been set up. The equation has two independent solutions known as transient term or complementary function and steady state term or particular integral. The transient term was obtained in the first part of this lecture. In this video the second independent solution called particular integral has been discussed. It is found that in steady state the system oscillates with the same frequency as that of the driving force. But the phase of the oscillator is different from the phase of the driving force. Actually, the oscillator lags behind the force in phase. These facts have been discussed in detail.
