World Energy Congress 2013 - Day 1 Regional Crossroads: New dynamics of Asian LNG Markets

The global LNG market is primarily driven by Asia. LNG import by Asian countries accounts for 60% of global LNG trade. Currently Asian LNG markets face unprecedented changes. North American shale gas is about to find its way to Asia and this will cause tremendous pressure on the long-term contract in terms of both price and volume. Oil indexed gas pricing is being phased out in Europe and is being questioned in Asia. China is at the beginning of the shale gas journey.
Questions
1)What does the North American shale gas revolution mean for Asian LNG markets and trade patterns?
2)How long can the huge disparity between gas prices in North America, Europe and Asia remain?
3)Will China's shale gas be a game changer?
