Next Steps for Alliance Trade and Technology Policy Coordination: Session Two
The Biden administration is finalizing its trade and technology policy approach for the next four years, and this approach could differ noticeably from both a traditional free-trade/techno-globalist style and Trump’s “America First” brand of protectionism. While the Biden team says that it wants to coordinate these policies with allies like Japan, will its focus on American workers, diversified supply chains, and domestic economic recovery conflict with other countries’ visions for trade and technology policy?
Join us as Susan Schwab, Heizo Takenaka, Fran Stewart, and Marc Mealy discuss the pros and cons of recent trade and tech policy trends with a focus on the future. Together they will consider options for U.S.-Japan policy coordination on this front. Carnegie’s Jim Schoff will moderate.
