ST. LOUIS BLUES. Blues Legend Bessie Smith's only film appearance. Uncut 1929
This is not only a landmark because it contains Bessie Smith's only known film appearance but also for being one of the very first talkies ever made. This is the complete film co-starring Jimmy Mordecai as her gigolo boyfriend. This film fell into the public domain in 1958 due to lack of copyright renewal.
