Feeding pierce-clinch nuts with the flexible multifeed system
Efficient feeding and insertion of pierce-clinch nuts. With the flexible Multifeed system from ARNOLD Umformtechnik, it is possible to supply several punching heads with nuts in one pressing tool, saving both space and cost.
Flexible Multifeed system Efficient insertion of pierce nuts
There is no field in which the saying "time is money" is more appropriate than in that of automobile construction. Efficiency is a theme throughout every step of production, and it is also an important issue when press-fitting pierce nuts to form permanent fastenings in sheet metal or other components.
Here, a major challenge to efficient working is feeding the pierce nuts, because the space inside the press for the metal and the punching tool is extremely tight.
To combat this, Arnold Umformtechnik has developed a flexible Multifeed system which shows its merits particularly where a lot of pierce nuts need to be inserted into a component.
If several punching heads need to be kept supplied, one or two multi- distributors, each supplying up to eight punching heads with nuts, can be interconnected. In this way, up to 32 punching heads can be supplied to the pressing tool with nuts, saving space and costs.
While conventional feed systems require a robot cell or a manual workstation to finish the process, the multi-distributor technology produces finished components, thus saving on the investment costs for an additional work step, as well as handling and shipping.
With conventional technology, extra interfaces to the press - in the form of a large number of conveyors - have to be created. The many different items of equipment and cabling concerned can cause production hiccups. The Multifeed system scores highly with its flexible and space-saving operation.
The comparably short set-up and cycle times increase overall plant efficiency.
An efficient, automated solution is now available for applications secure fastenings with pierce nuts even under heavy load conditions. The Multifeed system enables large numbers of pierce nuts to be inserted very quickly - even into complex parts.
