How Do We Measure Pressure?| Manometer & Barometer | Fluid Mechanics #7 | JEE & NEET

Pressure is invisible… but can we measure it?

In this video, we understand how pressure is measured using two important instruments in Fluid Mechanics: the Manometer and the Barometer.

We first visualize how pressure can move a liquid column. This simple idea helps us understand how a U-tube manometer measures pressure difference by observing the height difference between two liquid levels.

Then we explore Torricelli’s barometer experiment and understand how atmospheric pressure supports a mercury column. This leads us to the famous relation:

P = ρgh

In this video, you will learn:

• Why pressure is invisible but measurable
• How pressure moves liquids
• Working of U-tube manometer
• Meaning of height difference in manometer
• Working of mercury barometer
• How atmospheric pressure is calculated
• Why 76 cm of mercury is important
• Real-life applications of pressure measurement

This video is specially designed for Class 11 Physics students and JEE/NEET aspirants who want to understand Fluid Mechanics conceptually.

At DK Physics, our goal is simple:

Don’t memorize it. Visualize it!
