"Don't Leave Me This Way" is a single by The Communards from the album Communards, released in 1986.
The Communards were a British 1980s pop duo.The band was founded in 1985 the Bronski Beat singer Jimmy Somerville along with another classical trained musician Richard Coles. Although Coles main instrument was the piano, he played many other instruments. For instance, he played the clarinet solo Bronski Beat Hit , "It Is not Necessarily So ." The Communards first UK Top30 hit was the piano -based debut single, "You Are My World". The following year 1986, the band rose to the UK charts with the single. "Don't Leave Me This Way ". The song is originally by Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes, soul classic, released in 1975. The Communards version took inspiration from Thelma Houston in 1977 recorded cover version. The song was number four weeks and was the UK's best-selling single of 1986. In addition to the duo visited the singer Sarah Jane Morris. Later, in 1986, The Communards single "So Cold the Night " reached the British charts at position eight.
