2022 Husqvarna FC350 First Ride Impressions

First ride on a 2022 Husqvarna FC350 (thanks Dave!). This is my second ride on a 10mm lower 21/22 Husky FC chassis setting. Like the '22 Husky FC450 I rode back in early July the first thing I noticed is the lower seat height and the overall feel of the bike is smaller. This lower feeling is really noticeable going into corners with excellent turn initiation. The bike feels better sitting or standing entering corners. I really like the 10mm lower suspension feeling. The next think I noticed is the the overall plush feel and the smoothness of the new suspension components especially at the top of the stroke. This bike only had about 2 hours ride time and usually WP suspension takes about 5~8 hours to fully break in. The air fork is polarizing for many but the updates made in the '21/22 model years result in a noticeably better AER fork feel that is worth trying before getting a re-valve or converting to springs. The AER forks are very tunable for different rider weights and track conditions. The rear shock worked well with good control and plush overall feel though the stock 4.2Nm spring rate is soft for my 195 lbs of weight.

The engine is a typical 350 with a super wide and usable powerband. It pulls decently down low but works best from mid to top. This bike still had the non vented air box cover but the quicker throw black throttle cam in place along with an FMF slip on muffler both of which helped liven up overall throttle response. The 350 engine has smooth power in Map 1 especially when Traction Control is engaged. Map 2 livens the engine response up a little but still very controllable power. If it were my bike I would add the myHusqvarna connectivity unit and dial up the throttle response and dial back the engine braking.

For me the 10mm lower chassis setting works great. I have always liked the slightly lower seat height on the Husky models but this new 10mm lower setting really feels good on the track. The cornering (especially turn initiation) feels better and the bike effortlessly changes direction with the lower chassis. The FC350 with the lower chassis feels small and compact and cornering is a strong point.

350's have always been my favorite combination of power/weight/handling in a 4-stroke off road bike and I like them even more with 10mm lower suspension!
