Delta IV - a very expensive pleasure
The Delta IV is a family of heavy launch vehicles created by Boeing in the early 2000s and operated by the United Launch Alliance (ULA). The largest member of this family, the Delta IV Heavy, is the flagship of the ULA model line and, for 2020, the second launch vehicle in the world in terms of maximum payload. It is one of the few carriers using a cryogenic fuel pair in both stages: liquid oxygen and liquid hydrogen. The Delta IV is used primarily in the interests of US government agencies. With launch costs ranging from $150 to $400 million, these rockets can be considered some of the most expensive in the world in 2020.
