Wielding the Tonfa: Basic Blocking Techniques for Martial Artists
Tashi Peter Carbone and Sensei Jay Penfil, both of the Ryukodo Weapons Society, demonstrate techniques with the traditional Okinawan weapon, the tonfa. Watch as these guys "play" thru variations of techniques, grappling with the opponent, blocking, striking, locking and manipulating the opponent to gain control. The Weapons Society (Ryukyute Kobujutsu Hozon Budo Kyokai - meaning Hand of Ryukyu Old Warriors Art Weapons Preservation Society) holds a Weapons Camp several times throughout the year.
