65 DAYS of MAKING my INDIE HORROR GAME in UNREAL
In this series, We challenge ourselves to learn all the required skills and software's to develop a horror game. I use Unreal Engine for the development side of our INDIE HORROR GAME. Ported makes the map layouts and a lot of the smaller things. FairFlea makes the music and Wavering is making custom 3d models for the monsters and other things. There is a new short every single day so try to watch them all. #gamedev #unrealengine #devlog
What have we done so far?
Week 1: I began learning how to use unreal engine and got a course to help learn unreal engine. I also turned the basic 3rd person template into a true first person movement system. I implemented a placeholder player model and even animations! We have also done a lot of planning for the future of the game.
Week 2: I worked on learning more about unreal engine and I implemented the movement system including sprinting and crouching. It is fully animated and high quality. Now I have begun work on Level 1 of the game. There will be 6 levels total once the game is finished and released.
Week 3: I made the base for the level 1 map and made some paintings to decorate it. I made the first opening hallway look decent as well.
Week 4: I made 2 key features including a simple early flashlight and a door. I lost a lot of time trying to make a door in a fancy way which was not good.
Week 5: I made the final chase hallway, A statue room and the broom closet. Mainly just a map building week.
Week 6: SPIDER!!!! That's it.
Week 7: I added an Item System, made a key that you can pick up and most importantly the spider can now attack and defeat you.
Week 8: I created a key door system that allows you to open a door if you have collected the key I added last week. I'm now working on a keypad door system.
Week 9: We mainly worked on Level 3. The lobby of the level 3 hotel is now done apart from that we did not do much
