When is the Next 3D SUPER MARIO GAME Coming Out?

It’s been six years, when is the next mainline Mario game coming out? After the major success of the Mario movie, hype for the series is reaching a fever pitch. Fans are eager to re-experience the magic of playing games like Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Odyssey for the first time. Recent interviews with Shigeru Miyamoto suggest that something new is on the horizon.

Today we look into when we can expect a possible new release, why there hasn’t been a release in so long, and what we could potentially expect from this new entry. There is a lot riding on this new entry since Odyssey is widely considered to be one of the best mainline Mario games. Expectations have been heightened due to the massive popularity of the Mario franchise as a whole due to the movie. It feels like millions are waiting with bated breath to see what Nintendo has next in store for Mario.

Nintendo has also been releasing some major hits as of late. Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was able to live up to the hype and produce a sequel of quality on par with the first game. With hit after hit, it makes you wonder if the next Mario game will continue the trend or tragically fall.

Mainline Mario games are rarely ever considered to be outright terrible or undeniably bad. However, with such high expectations, it won’t be possible to make everyone happy. Especially those who may be expecting an adventure that’s more reminiscent of the Super Mario Bros. Movie. It might be disappointing for people when they discover that Bowser doesn’t regularly let out piano ballads. Whatever the outcome may be, fans can expect a field day of speculation the moment the next Nintendo Direct is announced.
