O Come, O Come, Emmanuel [with lyrics for congregations]

"O Come, O Come, Emmanuel " is the English translation of the Latin hymn "Veni, veni, Emmanuel", itself a metrical paraphrase of the 'O' Antiphons, a series of plainchant antiphons attached to the Magnificat at Vespers over the final days before Christmas. It was translated by John Mason Neale in 1851.

The tune is 'Veni Immanuel', originally music for a Requiem Mass in a fifteenth-century French Franciscan Processional. Thomas Helmore it and published it in 1854.

It is performed here by the St Michael's Singers and the Coventry Singers.
