Abstarct - This project involves controlling the speed of a Brushless DC (BLDC) motor using the Phase Angle (Fire Angle) Control method, traditionally used in AC motors but adapted here via a power electronic interface. The system uses a microcontroller to monitor a 10k potentiometer, which provides a variable DC voltage that the controller translates into specific firing pulses for the power switches (BT136). By adjusting the "fire angle," you vary the average voltage delivered to the motor windings, thereby controlling the RPM. To ensure industrial-grade reliability, the circuit integrates voltage protection using a potential divider to sense Over-Voltage or Under-Voltage conditions, and temperature protection via an NTC thermistor to monitor the heat sink. If the voltage exceeds a safe threshold or the temperature rises above a set limit, the microcontroller immediately suppresses the firing pulses to stop the motor, preventing hardware failure. The LCD typically displays the current speed percentage, temperature, and status. This setup offers a robust, cost-effective solution for precision motor control where thermal and electrical stability are critical.
