ETC 2021 - The State of Youth Sports
Session description
Distinguished panelists from three elite local sport organizations—Jane Benson, Vice President of Youth Programs and Marketing for New York Road Runners, Rick Nadeau, Vice President of Social Impact and Fan Engagement for the New York Rangers and Brian Walsh, Director of Youth Programs for New York City Football Club—will discuss the current state of affairs of youth sports in New York amid COVID-19. They will share their own experiences facing common challenges presented by the pandemic and reveal best practices for youth sports moving forward. They’ll also discuss the role that community engagement, technological innovation and coach and parent education play in athletics.
Speakers
Jane Benson joined New York Road Runners in February 2020 to lead the organization’s newly-formed Youth Programs & Marketing Department. She has focused on significantly growing and scaling Rising New York Road Runners in New York City and nationwide through effective program delivery as well as adopting an innovative approach to program marketing and outreach.
Brian Walsh is the Director of Youth Programs at New York City Football Club. Prior to joining the club, Walsh was part of the Director of Soccer Operations at St. John’s University, and later joined the New York Cosmos, where he developed youth programs. A native of Dublin, Ireland, Walsh came to New York in 2002.
Rick Nadeau is a field and experiential marketing executive currently working in pro hockey with the New York Rangers and Madison Square Garden with a primary focus on developing youth hockey in the tri-state area. He also serves on the NHL’s Youth Hockey Advisory Board in addition to being an active member of the Ice Skating Institute and the Metropolitan Ice Rink Managers’ Association.
