When look in the mirror and examine my life I see:

I see a face that has.....smiled with joy and a face that has wept with grief... beamed with pride and a face that has flushed with embarrassment;

Our lives seem to reflect contradictions and opposites.

What do we do with the contradictions that are our life? How do we resolve those opposites?

Every Sunday we gather at church we say that we, "Bringing all that we are and all that we have."

That's what is placed on the altar. That's what gets consecrated, transformed into Christ, and given back to you as a new life.

That is the Father answering Jesus's prayer."

Every year, Memorial Day gives us a sacred opportunity to stop and remember. It's a moment to honor the brave men and women who laid down their lives in service to our country.

For many of us, the best way to reflect on their sacrifice is through prayer.

Heavenly Father, Today we remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation. We honor their sacrifice and thank You for the freedom they helped preserve. Lord, comfort every family who grieves, and remind them that their loved one did not die in vain. May their courage never be forgotten, and may their memory inspire us to live with purpose, gratitude, and love. Let peace reign where there has been war, and may Your justice and mercy guide us as a nation. We lift our hearts in reverence and hope.

Lord, You see every heart that aches today, the parents, spouses, and children who carry the weight of loss. Wrap them in Your loving arms and speak peace into their pain. Give them strength for the days when memories feel heavy and joy feels distant. Let them know they are not alone. May they find comfort in knowing their loved one's sacrifice mattered. Remind them that You are close to the brokenhearted and that Your presence never leaves them. Fill their homes with light, their nights with rest, and their souls with hope. Thank You for the brave souls who gave their lives for our freedom. May we never forget their sacrifice. Bring peace to grieving families and guide our hearts in gratitude and unity. Amen"

Lord, You give life to our understanding of love, courage, and wisdom. Today there are so many paths we might follow. Help us discern the direction to set our own faces so that we might meet you at the cross in our willingness to deny ourselves for your kingdom, and at the empty tomb in our living the resurrection life. Amen."
