Concrete and Birch Ply Side Table | Makers Story | Atelier Cabinet Makers
After a lovely week of sun in the UK we were recently inspired by a trip late one evening down to the sea side. Sometimes it really does pay to take a few hours out of a busy schedule and get inspired and creative again. This table is a combination of concrete, birch ply wood and a woven fabric.
The concrete top is inspired by the evening sea, smooth and a pale greyish blue.
The birch ply symbolises the warmth of pebbled beaches, with slight dark and light shadows. The beautiful end grain, like sand ripples left from swooping waves.
The woven fabric is typical of the traditional beach mats that we use to use on family holidays when I was a young girl.
It was such fun making this table and we learnt a lot in the process! Can't wait to develop this design further we hope you enjoy :)
