Hands Down The Creepiest Items Recovered From Jamestown

The English began exploring North America in the late 16th century, but it wasn’t until 1607 that they built their first permanent settlement, in Jamestown, Virginia. Jamestown had a difficult beginning — during the settlement’s first 20 years, its population dropped from 500 to 60. In 1698, Jamestown’s statehouse burned down, effectively ending the settlement altogether.
In 1994, the Jamestown Rediscovery Project set out to uncover some of the hidden artifacts beneath the original settlement. Although the project was originally only supposed to last for 10 years, archaeologists continue to uncover fascinating artifacts. These are hands-down the creepiest items recovered from Jamestown.
