The Henry County Historical Society Museum has many "one of a kind" items in its possession but probably the most interesting, beautiful and mind boggling item in the museum and for that matter, in the state of Indiana itself, is the Thaddeus Coffin Desk. Thaddeus Coffin was the architect of the Henry County Historical Society, a Civil War Veteran and for 35 years he worked on building "the desk" which contains over 53,000 individual pieces. Every piece of wood is numbered and identified as to where it came from. In the process of building this one of a kind desk, he lost a finger but never lost his passion for the project.
