Aerial Interaction - Perching Drones using Impacts

This video demonstrates the result of the work published as: "Mechanism for Perching on Smooth Surfaces using Aerial Impacts". This work was submitted and accepted to the SSRR 2016 conference in Lausanne.

This work is an application of the outcome and findings in the work "Complaint Aerial Manipulators: Developing the New Generation of Aerial Robotic Workers", which enabled us to do stable impacts.
Using these stable impacts, as shown in the video, we can use vacuum-cups to perch on the environment. This can be used, amongst others, for manipulation and surveillance applications.

This work has been done in the context of the EU H2020 project AEROWORKS in a collaboration between the University of Twente and Aalborg University Copenhagen.
