Underneath the ground and just behind the Falls, no one would ever think that there's so much activity going on in there. There is a maze of large tunnels that had been dug for over the years. These were used by workers of the first hydro power plant and would extend 1/3 of the length of the Horseshoe Falls. Today they are now used by unsuspecting tourists and visitors to wonder about the magnitude of the Falls and the volume of water cascading to the Niagara River. The viewing deck near the bottom of the Falls would provide the best place to have a close up view of the Falls.
