Why Master Yoda Broke the Jedi Rules to Train Dooku…

Early on in Dooku’s time as a Jedi, he was fascinated by an Altiri Jedi Master with deep purple skin, named Lene Kostana. The reason he was so fascinated by Kostana was because she was an expert on ancient Sith artefacts and history… Something which the Young Dooku always had a deep interest in.

Kostana was so concerned by the possible reemergence of the Sith that she travelled the Galaxy looking for artefacts to prepare the order. Yoda believed this was silly, as the Sith could never return.

Either way, as the day came for the masters to choose their new apprentices, all Padawans duelled eachother to demonstrate their skills to potential masters. In order to impress Master Kotana, dooku fought his friend Sifo-dyas with one hand behind his back and completely destroyed him… To his shock however, Kostana chose Sifo Dyas, outraging Dooku…

Seeing both great potential and great anger in Dooku’s future, Yoda steps in and decides to take on the young padawan himself, much to the shock of all the other Masters. It was technically forbidden for a Jedi Grandmaster to take on their own Padawan… The reason Yoda broke the rules to choose Dooku was a mix of fear and potential. He saw a great future for him, but also a sliver of darkness…
