Hey everybody this is Matt from Sonic Sense Pro Audio. Right now we are going to compare some portable 2-Way 15-inch Loudspeakers. We'll check out Mackie's Thump15, JBL's EON 515XT, and Behringer's B115 D. All of these speakers are suited for PA or stage monitor applications.

Lets go over a few specs and then we'll hear some Audio Samples.

Mackie's Thump 15 features 1000 watts of class D power, a 1.4 inch titanium dome compression driver, a 3-band EQ with a sweepable mid-range, a combination mic/line input and an XLR Output. Max Sound pressure level is measured at 125 decibels and it weighs 32 pounds.

JBL's EON515XT is rated at 625 watts, and features a 1-inch Neodymium driver for the high frequencies. On the back we'll find two balanced ¼" inputs and one XLR input, one XLR output, a 2-band EQ, and an onboard 3-channel mixer. Maximum sound pressure is measured at 132 decibels, and it weighs 32 pounds.-

Alto's TS115 A comes from their TrueSonic family of loudspeakers. The Alto is rated at 800 watts, and features a 1-inch neodymium driver for the high frequencies. On the back we'll find 2 mic/line inputs, an XLR output to link speakers, and an EQ contour switch. Maximum sound pressure is measured at 126 decibels, and it weighs 39lbs.

Behringer's B115 D is rated at 1000 watts and sports a 1.35 inch aluminum high frequency driver. The back panel provides a 2- band EQ, 2 mic/line inputs, and dedicated inputs for Behringer's digital wireless mic system. Weight is 38lbs.

For our comparison, all the speakers were set flat, without any EQ engaged. They were recorded at 95 decibels, A-weighted, Slow, using DPA 4006 omni-directional microphones from a distance of 30". Okay, lets hear 'em.

Keep in mind that the frequency responses you are seeing contain room acoustics, and are not representative of the speakers anechoic response. The review starts now. We look forward to your comments about each of these speakers.
