Can Virtual Reality Ease Post-traumatic Stress Disorder? | Dr. Brenda Wiederhold | TEDxChapmanU

A licensed clinical psychologist in the U.S. and Europe, a visiting professor at the Catholic University in Milan, and an entrepreneur, Dr. Brenda Wiederhold completed the first randomized, controlled clinical trial to provide virtual reality medical therapy for war veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Her most recent achievement is working with coalition troops to provide stress inoculation training prior to deployment. She is further exploring the use of VR in treating patients of all ages suffering from ailments such as claustrophobia to stress disorders.
