The Frisco Local

WATCH IN HD

As of a few months ago, to my knowledge last least, every Wednesday afternoon this BNSF local comes down to Frisco from Sherman, Texas along the Madill sub to service the Frisco lumber yard and a small tanker facility between the two cities. Frisco is where the engines traverse the siding to get back on the head end of the train and head back North to Sherman. This video shows the full operations minus the train picking up the lumber cars just North of the Main Street crossing. It used to be that a full length manifest would stop on the siding and the locomotives would detach and pick up the lumber cars, adding them to the front of the train and continuing North towards Sherman, but it seems as though there is now enough industrial traffic to constitute a local train just for those purposes. Thanks for watching!

The engines were:
BNSF 3006 Rebuilt EMD GP40M Ex- CB&Q, BN
BNSF 2838 EMD GP39-2 Ex-ATSF (Recently repainted to H3)
